Stay - Rihanna

Rihanna's music video for Stay, is extremely simple, however holds a thousand meanings within it. It is based around the bath tub and think that symbolises the misery and the hurt that she is suffering throughout the song as she 'wants you to stay', clearly describing a personal matter.

The video starts off with very personal, CU shots of her body, moving in on her personal space, representing her personal matters:

The shots then range around herself, moving from MS's to CU's and ECU's, as the song is played over the top. Rihanna does lip sing some of the words, however sometimes she is deliberately out of sync with the song, to suggest that she is lost for words and caught within her thoughts. 

The use of the CU's and the ECU's capture her true emotion and bring out the extremely personal light to the song:

The MS's then allow the audience to reflect on the bath tub, possibly thinking that she is trying to 'drown' her thoughts and her body to get rid of some of her emotions and problems. It could also be a place that she can be alone with her thoughts that connects her to her problems, as Micky Ekko who features within the video is also shown to be round a bath tub, possibly something that Rihanna signifies as a personal place/a place where she has shared memories with people in the past.

At the very end of the video, there is a CU of Rihanna and a tear falls from her eye and trickles down her faces into the bath, again possibly suggesting that the bath has been used to signify her tears and the amount of hurt that she is suffering.
